Notices to the reader

This website combines access to lectures - live or online - with a system of tutorial aids that expand the information available through it, drawing on much information that has existed for many centuries in the Eastern churches, but has been collected by Robin Amis and studied by Praxis through many years. This includes a growing programme of translation necessitated because this knowledge had never until recently reached the West as more than a trickle.

Thus the content of the site is essentially the property of all Christians and so of every Christian  church, and requires no change in affiliation of the reader. All it requires of you is perhaps the most difficult thing to provide: an open mind that not only accepts but seek to understand its own inner experience.

To enable us to continue to provide this information and even update it, the book and associated tutorial aids are copyright under international law. The public reading or showing of the text and associated material is likewise protected under performing rights registration. No reproduction or public reading or display will be permitted without written permission from the rights holders. At the same time the Institute will provide to those it considers fully qualified for the task the right to present this material in public over an agreed period of time in return for an agreed contribution to Institute expenses.
 

In this, the Institute is authorised to represent the Early Christian Translation Fund, UK registered Charity ????? and to remit appropriate funds to that charity to support future work.

Ongoing studies
 

Ongoing study of supporting material and associated practical study will normally be available only after registration, individually or as a group, with the Praxis tutorial office. At the same time, students are not expected to change their existing church affiliations, for these studies.
For registered students, practical work in this line of study will normally expand to include:
+ methods of teaching the ideas of the tradition that parallel the Lectio Divina of Western monasticism and the spiritual meetings of the eastern Church
+ traditional esoteric methods of prayer of the heart as taught in the monasteries on Mount Athos
+ simple exercises to teach self-knowledge and the slow growth of watchfulness and self-control
+ tutorial consultation with Praxis intended to increase understanding and perhaps contribute to the awakening of a true relationship to the divine
