  • 5.      These methods depend on transformation of the feelings that prevents the other activities of the psyche from causing the emotional disturbance common to untrained minds. Where the build-up is large, or outer circumstances are too demanding, there can exist certain alternative therapeutic methods.
  • 6.      For these alternative methods, certain preliminary knowledge is required. First; the subject needs to understand that there exist two different kinds of knowledge that serve entirely different purposes. Second, he or she needs to understand the nature of those activities of the psyche of which they are normally aware, the nature of that awareness, and means of integrating these different forms of activity as parts of a coherent whole. Through persistence in this process, therapeutic prayer again becomes possible.
  • 7.      Praxis has already tested a number of methods of integrating specific types of activity of the psyche, and seeks to extend this programme.
  • 8.      Observation indicates that this process of integration relates to three or more major stages in adult life; as serious student; as householder learning to take responsibility in life; and a third stage, not generally known, in which the individual is again able to give enough time to the therapeutic process for it to finally bear fruit.
