Praxis exists because of the spiritual crisis of the West
F or
those who are aware of spirituality as a real and important factor
in human life, as well as for those who are aware of the need for a
stronger spiritual element in their own lives, it is necessary today
that we begin to understand in depth not only the basic fact that the
West is in an almost terminal spiritual decline that reaches from
centuries-old monastic orders to the recently formed New Age esoteric
schools. If we are to have any hope of remedying the situation, it is
also necessary to understand not only that this decline is a significant
factor in the changes occurring in the world today, but that it is
rooted so far back in the history of Christendom that only by detailed
understanding can we hope to improve the situation. The only visible
hope of a resolution is the rediscovery of an early Christian
therapeutic tradition and the raising of one of its main discoverers -
Hierotheos Vlachos - to the rank of Metropolitan (a senior Archbishop)
in the Greek church.
